adam: the ethereal escape

“the trip was transformative, I’ve returned home wondering why I am not making a living from my passion like Jason and Emilie are as I have the passion drive and skills to do so. I have a completely different level of respect for the indigenous culture and their ties to the land, while I have always had respect for this walking the flats with our guide and understanding this deeper has really been a great experience. Spending time with like-minded creatives has always been enjoyable but this is the longest I have spent with a group I have never met before and it was amazing, learning about others passions and seeing their talent is so motivating.”

cassandra: the ethereal escape

“I learnt a lot about the history of Mungo, as well as the Ngyiampaa, Mutthi Mutthi and Southern Paakantyi Aboriginal people. I loved that we got to have an unexpected guided tour through the Lunettes. I feel like I made friends with everyone on the trip - it is always great to meet with people who have similar tastes. people from other areas of Australia have invited us to their local areas to discover what they experience.Thank you for an amazing time at the Ethereal Escape in Mungo National Park with Emilie & Jason. I cannot wait for my next Aweventurer adventure.”

james: the ethereal escape

“Time will tell but I believe we have made some new friends! i Wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't done anything like this before but my expectations were met or exceeded. I did expect a bit more of a deeper dive into the Aboriginal Culture however. I thought the attention from the hosts was excellent. the trip was inspiring, and amazing.”

leanne: the ethereal escape

“It was exactly what I needed. After being isolated in Victoria last year (and moving there as COVID hit, so knowing near no-one), it felt so good to meet and connect with people… especially as everyone was so kind and genuine. Thank you for an amazing trip that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Sanjana: the joy escape

“I definitely connected with so many people that I know I'll be seeing again. It meant a lot to be because my social and work circles are male dominant and professional relationships dominate my life. I was almost worried that I didn't know how to connect with other women anymore. I was glad to see that wasn't true and I've walked away with so many like-minded women that I can call friends!”

adell: the joy escape

“Thank you for bringing us all together. My only criticism is that I wish it lasted longer! I learnt so much about myself and what I can do to make me feel me again. It’s something for me I’ve never done before and I’m so so glad I did. I still can’t believe how at ease and comfortable, accepted and vulnerable I was able to feel with a large group of ladies I’d only just met. It’s near indescribable but I’m so thankful for it.”

jasmine: the joy escape

“it’s so weird how you make great connections over a couple of days. it feels like we have a little community even though we all live far away. i exchanged details with some girls in sydney so we can look out for each other and i am really comforted knowing i can do that. energised! afterward, i was ready to get back into my yoga practice, keep up the routine, fuel my body with better food. ready to chase the feeling and state i had found myself in during the retreat. i think my main transformation was my level of comfort with vulnerability.”

marjorie: the joy escape

“so grateful for the people I met, the time spent together, but a bit disappointed it was already over. the people you meet open you to new worlds and experiences, it's also a new beginning to immerse yourself in the unknown. I have been away from my home family and friends for more than a year, and have been very quickly used to building new relationships and trust and care about the people you meet on the way; Aweventurer family is an addition to all those before, and I am so grateful for my family growing all around this world.”

alisha: the joy escape

“the last 4 days has been a massive ‘reset’ for me. it was the perfect opportunity to surrender control and come back home to myself after one of the worst years of my life. the women on this trip all fully embraced me for my beautiful weirdness and reminded me of my talents and gifts i have to offer the world and how valuable they really are. i have so much clarity on who i am and how i truly want to live my life and what my direction and focus needs to be at this time. Thank you to sjana elise and aweventurer for this amazing experience.”

shammarose: the joy escape

“Put simply.. I have been incredibly inspired, positively impacted and emotionally moved by this retreat. I am in AWE of the experience, I am grateful for the amazing souls I had the honour of connecting with, and I am blessed to have been able to gracefully come home to myself 🤍 thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

alison: the literary expedition

“It was a magical trip. I still carry the glow. A well conceived trip with brilliant leader, Bri, and perfect guide, Fouad, and then the alchemy of seven amazing travellers. I learned about Amazigh, how to cook tagine, how green in-land Morocco is, the world’s oldest university is in Fes, how to read deeply again, and how magnificent the people I travelled with are. I loved meals in private homes, Gnawa music in the desert and glamping, cooking class, workshops, and a tour of Fes medina. I now have a fascination for Morocco, its literature, history, culture and food. I feel privileged to have travelled during Ramadan and enjoyed iftar in private homes. This trip was extraordinary in that everyone was so interesting, kind, and hilarious.”

emma: the literary expedition

“This trip was simply phenomenal, and has reinvigorated my love for group travel. We had an amazing local tour guide who really cared for us and made our trip safe and comfortable. The accommodation was insanely fabulous! I loved every minute of the trip and each day just got better and better. i learned So much about Moroccan history and culture, especially through the female lens. Learning about feminism in Morocco through our guides and a local author was mind blowing. I also loved learning more about Islam through our tour guide Fouad and the local families we visited through Ramadan. I loved the walking tours and trip to Volubilis! Fes was a real highlight! Incredibly transformative, I’ve learnt so much about Morocco, travelling, writing, feminism! I’m just blown away with how amazing this trip really was. definitely! The girls on the trip (and Fouad) and I have become best of friends. We made such deep connections and I haven’t laughed so much in years.”

thea: the book escape

“I loved the retreat. Bri was amazing, so open and vulnerable about her work, her insecurities, and her practice, and each workshop was so thoughtfully put together. The retreat itself was EXTRAORDINARY and Scott the caterer was incredible, the food was unreal. Alice was on hand for anything we might need – runs into St Helens, washing up, grabbing blankets during the sessions when we got too cold. I appreciated there was time set in for reflection and down time, but I would've loved a few more sessions built in for creativity in reading or thinking or writing – I just wanted more of that! eg. Going through the chapter of Scary Monsters around the campfire all together, was so interesting. There was some books on the reading list we didn't get to – even something like a more traditional book club style moderation session talking through character etc would've been great.”

thomas: the book escape

“I had a fabulous time, it was so wonderful to meet likeminded people, have joyous discussions, confront some hard truths about self and society and be inspired to move forward with my ambitions. Bri was magnificent in her approach by being honest, relatable, structured and inspiring”

andrea: the book escape

“ Great combination of creative workshops, local First Nations cultural experience, free time and conversation time over meals and after dinner fire sessions. Food was excellent. Accommodation was high quality.”
