meet your hosts kelly & kody

Kelly and Kody here! We are the photographers, videographers and content creators know best by our Instagram handle, @positravelty. We have traveled the world together for four years, exploring our beautiful planet in search of the most picturesque locations. This year we are changing our typical travel plans and opening up our style of travel to anyone that wants to join us. Not only will you get to see the world in a way you have never seen it before, but you will also get to see us develop our photoshoots and we will also be lending a hand to help you go home with some epic photos as well!

This will be our second trip to Egypt and we are beyond excited to explore the country again. Our previous trip was more focused on diving in the Red Sea so, aside from the pyramids, this will be a new experience for us as well. Thank you so much for interest in traveling with us and we look forward to meeting you in Cairo!

faq’s

what is the accommodation like?

we’ll be staying in a range of accommodation types to give you the traditional Egyptian experience. Think charming, Nubian village houses, ancient city citadels turned into hotels as well as an overnight on a sleeper train travelling to Aswan!

what should I bring?

we’ll be doing lots of walking, so comfortable walking shoes are a must. Other than that, bring everything you’ll need for an eight-day adventure exploring the sights and sounds of Egypt. It can get pretty warm during the day, so light, breathable clothing is recommended. Come nightfall, you’ll need a warm jacket as it can cool down a little in the evenings.

will I have downtime?

while our days are pretty packed to ensure you get the most out of your time, there will be times where you will be able to explore the city yourself or stay in and have some downtime. We’ll be spending some time on the road as well – the perfect time to get to know your fellow travelers, or pop in some headphones and bunker down with a good book.

how do i get there?

getting to cairo international airport is fairly straightforward from most capital cities, with a small layover perhaps. once you arrive, you’ll be picked up from the airport and you won’t need to worry about a thing.

can i come solo or with friend or a partner?

both! solo travellers will immediately connect with the group under the warm stewardship of kelly & kody and friends will likewise have a great time connecting with the group. if you're coming with a friend, and want to be roomed together, let us know in the rooming configuration box at purchase. if you're coming with a partner (or someone you're close enough to share a double bed with), let us know at operations@aweventurer.com and we will contact you with further details.

when should i book my flights?

we need to reach a minimum trip number to confirm this departure, so please hold off on booking flights until we send you a welcome email that confirms departure.

what do i pack?

while we’ll be travelling to egypt in april – technically the region’s springtime – temperatures are very moderate in this part of the world, with average temperatures ranging from 14ºc (58°F) at night to 28ºc (82°F) during the day.

we recommend packing something light but warm to throw on in the evenings when it cools down a little. other than this, bring everything you need for a cool down – swimmers, sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, and any other sun-protective gear you may need.

how can i be culturally sensitive?

we will be travelling during ramadan, which is a hugely important religious time for local egyptians. our local guide will explain how we can be sensitive to the local culture during this time.

will i have downtime?

while we do have lots of things planned, there will be time a small slither of time to chill every day!

is it covid safe?

we will be watching the border and health situation very closely. rest assured that if covid impacts the majority of travellers we will postpone to a later date. if that isn’t feasible, we will offer partial refunds (the deposit is non-refundable).

how do i pay to confirm my place?

you have two options: pay in full or pay the $550 deposit. if you pay the deposit, we will require payment in full 25 days prior to the trip start date.
