located in northern finland, lapland is an enchanting arctic region home to reindeers, santa claus and the northern lights. as the perfect place to stay in winter, torassieppi is an eco-friendly resort which includes a cabin village, local shops, snow hotel and restaurant, aurora dome luxury tents and even a reindeer and husky farm. the entire resort is fueled by sustainable alternatives, and the purest air in the world is measured here. 

the indigenous population, known as the sami people, have lived here for thousands of years. they have named every valley and mountain peak to show their respect for nature.

what if COVID affects the trip?

we will be watching the international border and health situation very closely. rest assured that if COVID impacts the majority of travellers we will postpone to a later date. 

how to get there?

you will be arriving at one of northern finland’s main airports in the arctic circle, the kittila airport. from there you can catch the bus or taxi for an approximate one hour transfer to muonio, torassieppi.

what is the accommodation like?

you will be staying at torassieppi which is located next to pallas-yllästunturi national park.

in the main building by lake toras-sieppi, there are cozy double rooms with their own shower and toilet. otherwise the alternative option is to sleep in the cabins, which include a fireplace, shower, toilet, kitchenette, perfect for 4 people. there are also slightly larger cabins with saunas for 4-6 people. additional facilities are also available to use. 

do I need a visa? 

if you are a citizen of a country that does not have a visa/travel agreement with finland, you must require one for this trip. you can have a look at this website to determine whether or not you need a schengen travel visa to enter: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/who-needs-schengen-visa/ 

all travelers are required to hold a valid passport during your visit. 

what will the weather be like? 

we will be arriving in lapland in winter, so while we get to enjoy the wonderful array of snow activities, this also means that we will experience heavy snowfall, temperatures below zero and very dark nights.  

what should i pack? 

with both the mornings and evenings at freezing temperatures, without a doubt please bring a very warm coat, along with fleece sweaters, base layers, thick socks, gloves, scarves and maybe even heat packs. it is also recommended that you bring waterproof or insulated shoes as you will be walking in the snow a lot. there are plenty of stunning landscapes and sights so definitely bring a camera! otherwise, be sure to bring everything you’ll need for a five-day adventure in the city of winter wonderland. 

how likely is it that we will see the northern lights? 

although it cannot be guaranteed that you will see the northern lights, we will be arriving in lapland during the month dubbed the best time of the year to see them. the night sky is still dark enough to contrast the brilliant active aurora borealis.
